Smooth experience with CN2 GIA

I ordered a CN2 GIA VPS (Los Angeles location) a few weeks ago, specifically for better connectivity to Asia. The ordering process was straightforward on their website. It took about 30 minutes for the VPS to provision, which was reasonable. Delivery of the access details was instant via email. I tested the latency, and it was significantly better than my previous provider, especially to servers in China. I had a quick question about snapshot storage, and their support replied within a few hours, which was pretty good. The root access worked as expected, and I had no trouble installing my OS. Overall, a solid service that delivers on its promises for premium routing.

Got a great deal on a VPS

So I was looking for a new VPS and checked out Bandwagon Host. I grabbed a Linux VPS from them last Black Friday. The price was really good with the sale, like way better than what I was paying before. Set up was easy peasy, just followed the steps. The service has been running smooth, no complaints there. I'm definitely getting my money's worth. I was a bit worried about setting it up myself since I'm not super techy, but it was fine. Saved a bunch, so yeah, pretty happy with it.

Decent value, good connectivity

I was looking for a good value VPS with decent international routing. I opted for a CN2 VPS from Bandwagon Host. The annual billing discount made the price more attractive compared to monthly. I saved a bit upfront. The connectivity, especially to China, was a key factor for me, and it performed as expected. It's not the cheapest out there, but for the routing quality, I think it offers good value for the money. The control panel is functional, though a bit basic. Worth the purchase for my specific needs.

I'm in LA and looking for a low-latency connection to Asia. Is their Los Angeles CN2 GIA VPS really that much better than, say, a Vultr instance for traffic going to China?

L Lisa 2 months ago
Oh yeah, for China, Bandwagon Host's CN2 GIA is pretty much king. It's specifically optimized for that route, Vultr won't touch it.

Massive difference. If you need low latency to Asia, especially China, the CN2 GIA lines on Bandwagon Host are specifically designed for that. Vultr is good, but it's not going to have that dedicated routing.

I'm trying to decide between their CN2 and CN2 GIA plans. What's the main difference between them, and is the GIA worth the extra cost?

P Phil 2 months ago
CN2 GIA is the premium tier, usually for much better routing and less congestion, especially for China traffic. If your target audience is in Asia, it's generally worth it.

CN2 GIA basically means more dedicated, less congested routes, particularly for traffic between North America and Asia. If you need top-tier performance for users in China, GIA is the way to go. Standard CN2 is good, but GIA is next level for that specific use case.

I heard about their Black Friday deals. Are those usually better than the regular recurring discount codes they put out?

G Greg 2 months ago
Yeah, the seasonal sales like Black Friday or Cyber Monday often have bigger discounts, sometimes even higher percentages or special plans.

Definitely. The Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are usually their biggest. You might see higher percentage off codes, or even some unique plans not available otherwise. Worth waiting for if you can.

Hey guys, thinking about getting a VPS from these guys. Does anyone know if their recurring discount codes actually work for renewals too, or is it just for the first purchase?

J June L. 2 months ago
Yeah, they usually are recurring. I've had a 7% off code for like two years now and it just keeps applying every billing cycle.

Can confirm. Most of their promo codes stick around for the life of the service, not just the initial sign-up. Just make sure you enter it at checkout.

Are they strict about payment methods? Like, do they only take PayPal, or can I use a regular credit card too?

J June D. 3 months ago
They take a few different options, I've paid with credit card before. I think PayPal is an option too.

Pretty flexible actually. I've used both PayPal and my regular credit card with them without any issues. They list out what they accept on their payment page.
